Women are known to be collectors of shoes- but many men have more shoes than they would admit.
Shoes are important to both sexes but for different reasons. Women see them as an extension of themselves, they feel different with each new pair of shoes they wear. Men do not have quite the same emotional response but shoes are still important for economic and sexual reasons. Women judge men by their shoes, as do employers to some extent.
A man needs three types of shoes. Each of them needs to be looked after in their own way.
1. Formal, shiny shoes.
These need the most looking after. Always use proper shoe polish or shoe cream. NEVER use those a handy polish in the sponge things. They work very well in the short term (and save a great deal of time) but will dull the leather in the longer term.
Consider buying some shoe trees (cedar is best because the cedar deoderises the shoes). These keep the shoes from creasing up and make them easier to polish. Alternate the shoes so that the leather has the chance to dry out between use.
2. Casual shoes.
You may prefer to buy these in brown as they look OK with a little dirt on them. You may also use liquid sponge polish as the shine is less important in the longer term.
3. Walking boots.
Use waterproofing liquid.
