Women’s magazines are full of diets. Each new diet presents itself as the last they will ever need and yet there is always another one along shortly- often in the very next issue of the magazine that printed it.
Why is this?
One reason is that it focuses upon what the woman cannot have. If she cannot have ice cream she will obsess upon her sacrifice until she cannot do so any longer. This will be the end of one diet until the next one comes along.
If you think about things you cannot have, they will become more desirable. The secret is to forget about the diet completely and become interested in something else.
Men are creatures of habit. We tend to eat the same things out of habit so the secret of losing wheight must be to install good habits. Do not think about the diet at all. Do not even weigh yourself but install better habits. You will find that the wheight falls off without being aware of any sacrifice at all.
Let me give an example.
Week I. Take your coffee without sugar. It will taste bitter for a week and then you will not know the difference.
Week 2. Use some imagination and find cool things to do that do not involve drinking. Note that the emphasis is not on giving up pleasures but on finding new ones.
And so on. Nothing will happen for a month or so and then you will notice your trousers are too large.
Keep it up, week after week- finding healthy habits that run themselves. Pretty soon your life will be transformed on every level. You will be healthier, richer and happier without ever conciously given anything up. Be gentle on yourself! Remember that the object is not to be aware that you are on a diet at all.
