Think of the last TV advert you saw. What exactly did it tell you about the product?
Nothing probably!
What! How is it that companies spend millions on advertising their products and them tell us nothing about about them?
Something very strange is going on here. In fact the advertisers know exactly what they are doing. They are selling their products on the hypnotic level. Most people believe that this is illegal but it is not. It has become so universal that we no longer notice it. In fact hypnotism loses much of its power once you are aware of it.
Here is the structure of a successful advert.
1. Introduction of an ‘ideal self’ that the target would like to be.
2. Joke.
3. Beautiful images, music.
4. Mention of product- but no information.
Make no mistake. These things rob of us of our happiness. Happy people cannot be influenced because they have all they need. The first stage of influence is to create dissatisfaction and we must resist this if we are to be happy.
Why am I talking about this in the ‘true wealth’ section? It is because we will always be poor as long as we are not in control of our desires.
This has NOTHING to do with living as a poor man. It has EVERYTHING to do with finding what truly makes one happy.
What am I enjoying now, as I write the blog?
I am aware that it is a wonderful Sunday morning. I have nothing planned for the day so almost anything could happen. These are free sensations. The more I enjoy free things the less I will wish to abuse my credit cards.
This is the opposite of what advertisers want. They would wish us to be unaware of the fine morning. They would want us hunched over our TV, watching adverts for products do not own.
It is war- and it never ends.
